Container applications are only compelling if they can orchestrated with application-level patterns with automated policies that govern how the containers are deployed (placed), scaled up, scaled down, updated (in place) and undeployed (sunset). Using the simple OASIS TOSCA Standard application templating language (in YAML) and the heat-translator project along with the OpenStack Senlin policy service to orchestrate (with the Magnum container service) these things are possible. This provides a compelling way Enterprise customers of OpenStack to actually describe how their applications are managed automatically for their entire lifecycle from a single declarative template.
